One of Bengal’s most celebrated film actors, Gargee Roychowdhury has effortlessly traversed cinema, music and theatre with grace. But long before the applause of the screen, she stood on the stage, where discipline, surrender, and courage shaped her journey.

A National Scholarship holder in Theatre from the National School of Drama, she carries within her the rigour of formal training and the soul of a true performer. Beyond acting, she is also a trained Odissi dancer, having honed her art under the legendary Guru Kelucharan Mahapatra, a discipline that deepened her rhythm, expression, and stage presence.

Her versatility extends further into music. As a playback singer, her work in the film Sesh Pata produced chartbuster tracks, proving once again that her artistry knows no boundaries.

GARGEE ROYCHOWDHURY’S CONNECTION WITH THEATRE

Through Theatre Plus, Gargee returns to the stage, not just as an actor, but as a torchbearer for the next generation of voices waiting for their first curtain call. Her mission is to ensure that theatre is not remembered as history, but lived as today.

Theatre Plus is her child. Through it, she wishes to give back to the stage, and to the next generation of voices waiting for their first curtain call.

Her recent work in Theatre is Rangini – which created a huge impression in Bengal and outside Bengal amongst the Bengali diaspora

A play that drew audiences back to the theatre halls, a reminder of how powerful live performance still is. With Rangini, Gargee’s return to the stage was met with applause, headlines, and hearts moved.

Critics wrote of its power, audiences filled the spaces, and the success of Rangini proved one truth, theatre, when offered with passion, still commands attention. Its run extended beyond Bengal to Delhi, Mumbai, Bangalore and more.
